Additionally, he is referred to as "Earth-Shaker" due to his role in causingearthquakes, and has been called the "tamer of horses". He is usually depicted as an older male with curly hair and beard.

Although Poseidon is the best known sea god, in ancient times he was the god of herdsmen. In those times he even came before Zeus. His emblem is the trident. He is the father is Triton.
